Description

About This Record.  This is a never before seen Columbia Record Productions Test Pressing of The Doors L.A. Woman LP!  Yes, a Test Pressing!  My starting price is what I paid for this 25 years ago, so you'll have to pay at least that much too.  I cannot stress how incredibly rare this item is; I have never seen a test pressing of any of their important LPs although I am sure some band members/family must have one or two hiding somewhere.  See my photos and descriptions below.

. . . .  Good luck, as this is probably the ONLY copy in existence, your friend, Wright

ATTENTION International Buyers:  The eBay invoice you may automatically receive defaults to Priority Mail shipment which has a tracking number but costs $31.50 instead of $12.50 to $15.00 which is the cost of First Class Mail.  If you want First Class Mail for $12.50 to $15.00, please let me know and I can send you a revised invoice with a seller discount; although the invoice I think will still say Priority Mail it will be sent First Class Mail.  I guess this is like international sellers only being able to send an invoice to U.S. customers that says $4.00 when we all know that is not the true cost of shipment.

Please note that I work for eBay and eBay company policy requires that I inform any potential bidders of this fact, and direct them through this link to the Code I have to abide by as an eBay employee:  http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/everyone-employee.html   No, I don't work in the collectibles division or anything, I'm just a regular eBay employee like you and me who lives near San Jose and is a vinyl hound but is required to tell you this.

About Me.  I have been a Record Collector for over 35 years.  With two kids in college, I often sell records so I can buy more vinyl or, in this case, pay the last college tuition bills of the year!  99% of what I sell is vinyl; read my Feedback! Common LPs are a waste of your time and mine!    I bought this many years ago during my travels and have kept in well preserved.  This comes in a new rice paper equivalent sleeve, and new 4 mil plastic sleeve.

Cover Condition.  Strong EX-; light wear on cover around window, and some ring wear grunge on front back.  The Cover is DIFFERENT than a stock copy because the color are much more Vibrant; the hue of the red is much darker than a stock copy, consistent with this item's rarity. Cellophane window is intact and the yellow christ innersleeve is in EX condition as well.

Vinyl Condition.  This is hard to describe with a simple rating; please read my description.  This LP has two flaws.  The first importantflaw is that there is a stylus scratch in the first song on Side 2 (L'America) that produces ticks for 62 seconds, yes slightly longer than a minute.  It was like that when I bought it.  The second flaw is that on Side 1 on the last song, L.A. Woman, there is a pressing defect (I think) that makes the song STICK in one place.  Yes, Stick, meaning my cartridge goes around and around playing the same thing same thing same thing same thing same thing . . . I have looked closely and can see no problem as to why it should stick so it must be a pressing defect.  Without these two defects, it looks EX+ to NM- and plays NM- but with these defects . . . who knows . . . VG+?  The SOUND is brilliant, bright and vibrant and hard to describe other than that it blows my reissues away.

Innersleeve (s).    The original yellow "christ" innersleeve is included, along with a stock copy of this same inner sleeve.  Stock copy?  Well, the inner that comes with this test pressing (while it has a tear about 1 1/4 inches long top right, is DIFFERENT than the stock copy yellow innersleeve.  The stock copy has edges that are not as rounded and matched to the odd shape cover.  And, LIKE THE COVER, the original innersleeve has a yellow color that is much more vibrant that the reissue sleeve, in addition to being a slightly different shape.  I enclose both for the lucky winner.

Label Condition.  EX or better, hard to grade as it has songs written on the labels but besides that no stickers or residue or other miscellaneous writing.

Shipping and Payment.  PayPal only.  I ship promptly worldwide and do not overcharge for shipping . . . contact me if you paid more than the USPS postage sticker on your package and I’ll happily refund you the difference.  I will ship by any method you want.  But if you do not insure, the record will be shipped at your own risk.  I offer full refund on all records including shipping both ways.  CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS:  Please add sales tax.
