Description
THE CREATION*Making Time*MOD*BEAT *7" Single on the Planet Label. 1966 .. Condition is "Used very good +". Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class.
This Mod/ Freakbeat single apparently is quite rare I believe?
This was their first single from 1966. Apparently they were one of the Uk's premier mod bands of the time.
It is reputed that Eddie Phillips, lead guitarist, was even asked by Pete Townshend to join the WHO as their second guitarist.
They were the first group to also experiment with a violin bow on a guitar!
The group did very well in Europe, in particular Germany, however failed to make a big impact in the UK, even though they were one of the most widely touted live acts at the time.
They had a few line up changes and apparently even Ronnie Wood played played with them for a bit.
As far as the record goes, I have tested the single and it plays ok. The B/side does have a couple of scratches, however when played its fine.
"Record Collector" values it mint at £50 plus, I believe, with the original sleeve, which it has. Obviously this copy is not mint but having said that, it would be a great addition to a 60s collection.
The record I would say is Very Good Plus on Side 1, and Side 2, Good. Sleeve, Good Plus.
It has 3 biro initials but thats it, and an original stamp from 17 June 1966, which is a nice touch.(See pics)
Its not bad for a 54 year old record in all fairness. At this moment in time I've checked ebay, and there is only one other copy available, and it exceeds the book price?
Disc comes from a pet and smoke free home.
