Description

Incredible condition copy of this 1978 offering on NEMS from under-rated punk pioneers, The Boys.

Formed in 1976, these guys were there at the outset and recorded some fantastic punk music, yet they never seemed to get the accolades reserved for the likes of the Pistols/Clash/Damned etc.

This album, the follow-up to their self-titled debut, was released in 1978 and distributed extensively throughout Europe.

This copy is an original U.K. pressing (re-issues are identified by the speed indicator on the labels showing 33RPM) and this one has the unusual translucent red vinyl effect when held up to a strong light source.

This is not a sign of a special or limited edition, but simply a feature of the mid 70s manufacturing process employed by PYE Records and its derivatives, when they used a batch of PVC pucks/pellets with this property.

Any contract pressings done by PYE for other companies are likely to produce albums with this property. Some collectors find these copies particularly attractive.

This is one of those “reds” and it is in fantastic condition for its age.

Vinyl: NM - Incredibly good shape for a forty year-old album. Looks more like forty days old. Still retains a new-vinyl lustre and sheen and even better, play-tested and reproduction remains flawless! The labels are the original U.K. black/silver versions with the 33 1/3 RPM speed indicators. The labels remain immaculate with no discernible spindle-wear. Black vinyl with translucent red property when held up to strong light source.

Sleeve: Ex+ Superb condition sleeve - obviously very well looked after over the last 40 years. Fully laminated front & rear covers with band-photo shot on front cover, with montage & credits on rear cover. No splits, tears or creases, laminate entirely intact and spine in perfect condition. It also includes the heavy, full-colour card inner sleeve containing photo-montage design. The inner is in superb shape.

It’s a rare enough surviving relic of the punk era, but to be in such good shape too is a real bonus. Recognised by Record Collector RRPG and Discogs
