The Bon Jovi Story

This 2 record set has a complete radio program featuring music, interviews and commentary about Bon Jovi. The interviews/commentary is done by radio personality Steve O'Brien.

It was sent to radio stations in the United Stations/Unistar network to play on air and insert their own commercials at certain times. From what I can find there were two major networks that produced these discs and they merged in 1989 to become Unistar Communications Group. The programs were called "Hot Rocks" and this would be one of the last few under that name before it was changed to "The Weekly Special".

These radio show discs are somewhat rare, I have read that they only pressed 50 of a program and that there were not supposed to be kept but rather returned or destroyed after they were aired.

As far as I can tell, this particular program, for the week end of September 8-10, 1989 has not been sold on ebay or anywhere else previously. Also unique to this title is the pressing on translucent green vinyl. I have only seen black vinyl pressings.

This release comes with a letter from USP with brief info/instructions for the Station on playing this Hot Rocks program on the given weekend.  There is also a special announcement of the Unistar merger. There is a postcard for 'clearance' that the station was to return stating that they played the program on the given weekend as agreed.

There is no Cue Sheet with this release. I would assume it did have one but it's not here if there was.

I transcribed the first disc so you can get an idea of the content. Note side 3 is on the back of side 1 so the DJ could play side 2 from the second disc on another turntable to not disrupt playback of the program.

Condition: Jacket has some ring wear and corner wear on front and back (see pics). There is a bit of damage along top seam, maybe 2 inches, not a seam split.  Vinyl and labels are very clean, no scuffs/scratches. I have playtested both discs and they sound nearly perfect, occasionally the slightest bit of background noise during interviews, likely there from pressing as these discs don't seem to have been played often. Original plastic inners have some creasing as seen.
