Description
The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees Colgems LP (COS – 109 Stereo). The sleeve has a dedication to Edith Sidebottom written and signed by David Jones (in ballpoint pen). The dedication reads:
“Time when your old seems slow
But in your heart I think you know
That if you’d waited just a little while
I would have
Seen from you
an even bigger smile
I love you
Edith Sidebottom
But I must say Goodbye
Goodbye (flower drawing) David”
The late Edith Sidebottom was a cousin of my late father and we found this LP when we emptied his house after he had died (Edith had died several years previously). She once said that she had written material for the Monkees and when we researched this on the Internet we found information in a section about the LP on the website albumlinernotes.com/The_Birds__The_Bees.html
Under the heading “Original 1968 Liner Notes” for the LP the quotation that appears on the back of the LP sleeve “Why are we forever weaving new ties to bind us to the earth.” – Edith Sidebottom David is mentioned, and Edith also features in the write-up about the song “The Poster” which is on this LP.
The album sleeve shows some creases and the bottom edge is slightly damaged. The actual record is in good condition but has got two small scratches on side 1.
