Description

The Beatles/Abbey Road/MFSL 1-023/Original Master Recording/1st Press/Variant 4. Vinyl is Near Mint, Outer Sleeve is Excellent, see below for details.
OK dear readers, I bought this when it first came out way back in 1980 and it has been played about twenty times and then stored in my music room for over 38 years, unplayed until I cleaned it and gave it a test play last week. The vinyl is Near Mint with no scratches or spindle wear, it does sound superb when I played it on my Rega P7 last week into B and W 703 speakers.
There is no usual MFSL inner- goodness knows why ? I must have lost it over the years- so it is not entirely complete. The outer sleeve is in a really good condition with no tears or rips, just a slight area of ring wear , as shown in photo 3 above on the rear sleeve on the woman's blue skirt. I would class this as excellent condition. The vinyl record is always kept in the official MFSL lined rice paper sleeve. The deadwax matrix info is ;- Side 1 MFSL 1-023 -A12 SR/2 1121, Side 2 MFSL  - 1-023-B5 SR/2 151. This is Variant 4 of the one and only MFSL pressing.
It was actually remastered by Stan Ricker using the half speed mastering process. This was Mobile Fidelity's first ever Beatles release.
The lp itself is translucent (try holding it up to a bright light and you can see through it) showing you the purity of the actual vinyl used. So it is missing the usual posterboard fold out insert but the parts that really matter are superb, it's been called "an audiophile's dream" obviously that is subjective but it's very rare and very sought after.
