THE BEATLES - 'YESTERDAY'
This earliest copy of their hard to find 4-track EP dates from initial March 1966 release on the Parlophone label: GEP 8948
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK...' text.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is in the centre of the side 2 label.
Matrices: 7TCE 894-1 & 7TCE 895-1
Earliest possible stamper codes: 1/G & 1/G
Housed in its front laminated rounded bi-flipback picutre cover.
CONDITION
Labels: MINT -
A beautiful pair bearing just a single spindle trail around the side 1 centre hole from stacking in the factory.
Visual: MINT -
Immaculate deep-gloss playing surfaces which are unmarked in strong daylight and bear only a few harmless wispy paper-tape hairlines from storage directly beneath halogen light. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing. You won't find a cleaner or earlier copy.
Audio: EXCELLENT +
This disc has clearly been barely if ever played. All tracks play cleanly and clearly with no trace of any groove/playwear distortion, clicks, pops or other such distractions. There is a little vinyl background at the beginning of 'Yesterday' but that quickly disappears and does not spoil the enjoyment of these masterful mono mixes.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
Such a difficult to cover to find in this condition. The thin card has stood the test of time very well and the front panel retains an excellent high-gloss finish with just the unavoidable trace of the disc's centre but no 'thumbnails' or creasing. All of the corners and opening edges are sharp and unworn. The rear panel has a hint of age toning but is free from any writing or missing paper.
