Description
I have decided to sell my Beatles UK vinyl EP Box. I bought this item from Wax Trax Records in Chicago in 1983. It had been damaged on the corner, so I got a deal and was able to afford it as a result. This collection, bearing the catalog number BEP14, was released December 1981. It was the follow-up release to the “Blue Box” UK album collection but I believe far fewer made of the EP box. It had reproductions of the 12 UK EPs issued between 1963 and 1966, plus a stereo copy of the Magical Mystery Tour EP package (with the book attached) released in the UK in 1967. (The EP was the only version of Magical Mystery Tour available in the UK until the US Magical Mystery LP as released in 1976.)
What made this collection unique at the time of its release was the addition of a bonus EP that compiled four tracks that had never been released in true stereo in the UK until that time. The bonus disc was simply called THE BEATLES. The special thing about the bonus disc was that in contained stereo versions of The Inner Light, Baby You're A Rich Man, She's A Woman, and This Boy. I believe it remained the only available source for stereo versions of those four songs until the vinyl was released in 2009.
From the back of bonus EP, The Beatles:
A1. The Inner Light Originally this was issued as the 'B' side of the single 'Lady Madonna' in 1968. However, this is the first time the track has been released in stereo.
A2. Baby You're A Rich Man Released in mono in 1967 as the 'B' side of 'All You Need Is Love', this stereo version has only appeared on the UK cassette of 'Magical Mystery Tour' and on the German issue of the 'Magical Mystery Tour' album.
B1 She's A Woman This stereo track was originally issued in mono as the 'B' side of 'I Feel Fine' in 1964. It is only available in stereo on an Australian album and was recently included in the box set compilation 'The Beatles Box' issued by World Records.
B2. This Boy Never before issued in stereo in the UK although it has appeared on releases ion both Canada and Australia. It was originally the 'B' side of 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' released in 1963.
So, in all there are 15 7" vinyl discs in this package. It all comes in a hard blue box to match the famous album box released and the singles box in the UK around the same time. It has the gold-embossed autographs of The Beatles across the front.
All of the EPs (except one) are in near-perfect condition (I am being conservative when I say this; most would grade them mint). I don’t think I even played any of them except the bonus disc to hear the stereo versions of those 4 songs. The only exception is that there is a small scuff on the left edge of the Hard Days Night EP (GEP8920). It is barely noticeable on the front but on the back the scuff has discolored the white background a a light gray-brown color. I have included photos of the affected areas of that EP. Unfortunately, the box has a ding on the front lower left corner. Otherwise the box has only has a tiny bit of wear on some of the corners. The lid hinges are in perfect condition.
The photos are of the actual copy being sold. Since limits sellers to only 12 photos, I could not upload photos of every piece.
My copy has always been wrapped and safely stored. Its whole life has been in a pet-free and smoke-free environment.
This box deserves a home in the collection of a Beatles fan.
I reserve the right to not sell to suspect international buyers. Shipping charges will vary for international buyers.
Returns are accepted provided the item is returned in the same condition as when it was sent.
