For auction is a first edition vinyl copy of The Beatles Sweet Apple Trax II 2LP set.
I was a big collector of Beatles bootlegs many years ago when the industry was young and everything was vinyl, As you may know, often the graphics consisted of nothing more than a typed-out tracklist and some photos, all photocopied onto a single sheet of paper. Those were the days . . . collectors clamored for more and a lot of never-before-heard material was first being discovered. I live in Chicago and lucky for me a lot of the early bootlegs were available at the local record stores in their "imports" section or the special box under the counter that they were reluctant to show you until they came to know you as a regular.''
The Sweet Apple Trax series marked the first appearance of the Twickenham sessions tracks from the Nagra tape audio track. With volume I of the series everything was pretty basic: no printed jacket and unprinted labels on the LPs. With volume II, the bootlegger took a great leap forward. The jacket was colored and printed, and the LPs had labels on them.
The Vinyl is heavy weight and in Near Mint Condition. Keep in mind however, that the quality of the recordings wasn't that great in the early days of this industry and the pressing may not be that great either. There are printed graphic labels have the side numbers printed on them in pencil. I think I only played each record once.
The graphics insert (it’s not a picture sleeve) is in Near Mint condition.
The photos are of the actual item being sold.
I purchased this about 35 years ago. It has been kept in a smoke-free and pet-free environment since I purchased it.
