Outstanding unique Capitol Records’ archive set including a very early 1st Mono pressing factory sealed copy of the 2 LP “The Beatles’ Story” album and an original vintage front cover slick photo negative which Capitol Records used for printing the cover slick and media advertisement. Released on November 23, 1964 by Capitol Records “The Beatles’Story” represents a documentary double album featuring interviews, press conferences and snippets of original or orchestral versions of The Beatles songs with voice-over narration. Original cover design uses the photos taken by Joseph Covello and New York based photo studio Black Star, which is also most likely responsible for the cover design itself and was the one to create the original photo negative used by Capitol Records for printing the album covers and media advertisement. It’s really hard to overestimate the value of this artifact as most likely, it’s one of a kind and no other copies of this negative exist. This original vintage 1964 Capitol Records’ archive negative was made from Kodak-Safety-Film and measures 5” x 4”. The borders of the artwork dictated by the brown lab tape form the design of the front Mono slick by covering the “Capitol Full Dimensional Stereo” banner at the center top. One of the first photo proofs made from the negative is also included in the listing. The photo having the LP album catalog number 2222 handwritten at the bottom measures 3¾" x 3¾”. It’s incredible that the original vintage Capitol Records’ archive file folder has been preserved to this day. The folder measures 4⅜" x 5¼" and is made from yellow Kraft paper having a vertical vintage black “CAPITOL RECORDS” rubber ink stamp at the center. Additionally, the folder has the “THE BEATLES’ STORY” and “2222” catalog number handwritten vertically along the left edge. This unique holy grail set stored for a long time in the Capitol Records Art Department and was used in 1964 for all media related to “The Beatles’ Story” album. One of the rarest items I've come across ever and perhaps, one of the rarest memorabilia in the history of The Beatles.
