Fancy a Pepper copy that is going to smoke every other copy out there..?...then read on...>>
An original One/Two Box transitional Pepper copy from 1971 on UK Parlophone. Matrix 1/1 - same as the very 1st cut from 1967. Toward the end of '71 Parlophone added a further EMI logo onto their label design and this copy comes from that transitional period. This LP exhibits each of the variations on either side. Please note early 70's copies, like this one, were still tube-cut like their sixties counterparts. And the audio they can deliver is pretty much the equal of those 1st presses from 1967 just over three years earlier. This decent heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo gatefold cover printed by Garrod & Lofthouse. Please note the cover, interestingly, exhibits the 'mono recording' text in the bottom right corner on the rear. This was an overhang error from the last copies printed in '69' and was soon spotted and corrected. We have the original cut-outs and the original late-60's sepia Emi advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine. We also have a 2ft by 2ft poster which I believe is from the eighties, in addition, please feel free to request if that is of any interest.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, a beautiful slab of vinyl that has clearly only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of superficial marks - it really is a clean super looking copy. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Yes, you read that correctly...this is a top-level copy. You're going to hear every last nuance of that original '67 mix. When copies have seen this little use the audio is just breathtaking...it's like hearing Pepper all over again for the first time. Perfect balance, super resolution, and you can hear deep deep into the mix. I've heard a few really top-level renditions of Pepper over the years and this example is right up there - so don't underestimate what's on offer here. Interference is pretty much non-existent. It plays super-clean...I mean it is pretty much perfect. Even WI64 and WIYWOY play super clean. It really is the audiophiles party-piece-par excellence...I can't fault it. Barely a crackle! FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex+) Astonishing preservation and looks like it was printed yesterday. Shiny like new back and front and I'm struggling to make out anything detrimental at all - perhaps one tiny crease front and back. The interior is immaculate - no issues at all. Edge wear is very light and the spine looks practically new which is unusual. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. You'd have to go some to even equal this example. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cut-outs (Ex) Pretty much perfect... one tiny spot of wear.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing. No splits.
Poster (G+) Mostly intact. Heavily creased four ways. A few scratches. The back has a good few sticker residue patches. Of little value, but just might be up someones street. It's still a cool pic!
