Description
The Beatles Rubber Soul Vinyl Stereo First Pressing VG+.
I am offering for sale a truly stunning copy of one of the best Beatles albums dating from December 1965. The matrices read YEX 178 - 2 on Side A and YEX 179 - 2 on Side B. The label font is Times New Roman. Both indicate a first stereo pressing. This is the genuine article.
The vinyl shows one noticeable paper scuff under bright light but otherwise looks like new. Play tested on my Sansui XP99 using an Ortofon 2m Red cartridge. There is very little surface noise between tracks or on the run ins. The only noticeable surface noise in the music appears on Michelle but is in no way intrusive. The vinyl retains its original sheen. I grade the vinyl as VG+ but have to say that much of it is Near Mint. This really is a lovely copy.
The labels are near mint with only a small amount of spindle marking on Side 2. There is no embossed tax code which, is consistent with this edition. There is no apparent spindle wear.
The sleeve front shows a few minor creases along the top and bottom edges. There is also a small amount of wear on the opening edge which appears to be the very beginnings of laminate lift. This is only apparent however, under very close inspection. Whilst the shape of the record can be ascertained on the sleeve, there is no ringwear. There is one visible crease on the spine edge that can be seen in George's otherwise luxurient hair.
Each corner of the sleeve is dinked with opening edge corners being more obvious but in no way serious. There is a faint hint of the very start of a seam split half way along the bottom edge. The spine is unmarked and fully legible.
The flip back rear of the sleeve is in near mint condition. There is some minor wear on the opening edge. The laminated flipbacks show only a few creases and there is a little lift in the top left corner. There us one small barely visible smudge near the bottom and a round mark (tea splash?) On the picture of George in his cowboy hat (poor George). There is no ringwear.
The original emitex inner sleeve has a little creasing and is split on both the right and left edges.
I have tried to be as comprehensive as possible with the description but am happy to answer any questions, supply further photos and a video if you'd like.
This is a truly stunning copy of the iconic album that began the transition from loveable mop top popsters to fully fledged musical genius. It is archive quality and deserves to be loved and cared for. The quality is reflected in the starting price however, I will consider reasonable offers, just not silly ones.
The album will be shipped in a Music Max mailer with stiffeners and the vinyl will be separated from the sleeve. I will use Royal Mail First Class signed for and insured in the UK. I welcome international buyers but if successful please await an invoice before paying. The invoice will cover insured shipping by an international courier service and any extra selling costs incurred by me. International buyers are responsible for all import and local taxes.
