Original incredibly rare contract pressing factory sealed copy of The Beatles’ album “Rubber Soul”, released by Capitol Records on December 3rd, 1965. When the demand on certain issues exceeded the capabilities of the Capitol Records pressing plants, the company contracted with some other record labels to press the additional number of copies. This situation happened with the “Rubber Soul” album in 1965 and to meet the increased demand on The Beatles’ new release, Capitol Records signed a contract with RCA Victor, Columbia Records and DECCA. The copies pressed at the DECCA Records plants are considered to be the most collectible ones due to their rarity. The currently listed copy of the contract pressing isn’t only highly collectible, but also unique as its pressing could be identified by the RIAA number at the bottom right corner of the back cover. Very often, it’s impossible to identify the issue when it comes to factory sealed albums due to the absent RIAA identifying number on the back cover. So, the back cover of this factory sealed copy contains the RIAA “8” identifier which allows to accurately state that this issue is the DECCA contract pressing. The front cover contains an original 1.5” x 3” “Hear Paul Sing “Michelle” Original Beatles’ Version” yellow hype sticker affixed to the shrink wrap. The presence of the original sticker allows to accurately determine the pressing date of this copy, which is most likely somewhere between December, 1965 and March, 1966. The appearance of this sticker on the “Rubber Soul” album occurred due to the British pop duet David & Jonathan who teamed up with George Martin to make a cover on The Beatles' “Michelle” and Capitol Records had to affix the sticker to the album’s cover notifying the buyers that they were getting an album with the original version of the song sung by Paul McCartney. The commercial release of “Rubber Soul” occurred on December 3rd, 1965 and didn’t contain the sticker as well as “The Beatles” title on the labels. Therefore, this copy not only contains the sticker on the front cover but most likely, also indicates “The Beatles” on the labels. The album is in outstanding Mint factory sealed condition with the tight shrink wrap containing the original factory breathe holes, two on each side of the album.
★
A pristine Mint Minus example of the final upgrade copy. The front cover has a couple of very light barely noticeable indentation marks above John's head. Aside from that the album is in stunning condition. The fully intact factory shrink wrap contains the original breathe holes, two on each side of the album, and doesn't have any splits, tears or missing pieces.
