Description
An original 1st issue of Revolver on the UK Parlophone label from 1966. Matrix 2/2. Please note this copy is NOT the very 1st press with alternative TNK mix [NOT!]. The labels mention the abbreviated "DR.Robert" track. This was not liked by John Lennnon at 1st issue and he asked them to alter it to "DOCTOR" on future pressings in order to more fully fit the real meaning behind the song. As a result the abbreviated copies are the earliest and would have been available for sale in the 1st couple of months whilst the album charted. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L cover with flipbacks.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, this is a proper low-mileage copy...it really has only seen very light use. Under close inspection I can only make out some super-superficial marking on side 2..this is basically bag-rash type stuff. It's so low-level it won't even remotely feature in the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback without reservation. This in itself is a VERY UNUSUAL playing copy. I can't tell you how many copies of Revolver I've listened too that have not quite lived up to expectations. But every once in a while a truly super low-mileage copy surfaces that just blows you away. This example is just one of those copies. It is nigh on perfect and I can put it within the top two copies I've ever auditioned. Beautifully clean audio with all frequencies resolved with breathtaking accuracy. So, what's all the fuss about? Well, listen to this track listing...Yellow Submarine, Here There and Everywhere, Eleanor Rigby...all these tracks are incredibly difficult to find playing well and clean. Only a truly top copy is going to deliver all three, and the rest of the entire album, cleanly and faithfully. And this copy does just that.... Basically, it DEFIES ALL THE ODDS! Interference is pretty much non-existent. I'll do my usual catch-all..you might detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. But to all intents and purposes...this is a FINAL UPGRADE copy. It will not be beaten...
Cover (Ex+) And if the record wasn't good enough..let's just take in the cover. Wow, my favourite Beatles cover and how nice is it looking? How often do you find one that remains perfectly white and without laminate lift or creasing? Not all that often, mores the pity! The entire cover lies perfectly flat - there's no curl or bend at all. I can only make out one tiny crease on the rear and there are no signs of surface wear or ageing. I mean it really does look terrific. All flipbacks are perfectly intact and secure. Edge wear is negligible and the openings still sharpish. The spine is 100% intact and overall the cover retains perfect rigidity. A total one-off. FINAL UPGRADE.
Don't hang about....this sort of pedigree is somewhat unusual...
