THE BEATLES: ‘REVOLVER’ – AN ORIGINAL 1966 UK **FIRST ISSUE** BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE **mono** VINYL LP – PMC 7009.

RARE mono FIRST PRESSING, WITH ALTERNATE VERSION OF TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS, WITH SIDE 2 MATRIX OF, **XEX 606-1**

The Beatles 1966 UK 1st pressing of the 'Revolver' album. Released on the 5th August 1966, this is the highly sought after **XEX 606-1** variation which had a very, very brief pressing run before production was halted on the first day of release, and quickly withdrawn.

The side two XEX 606-1 matrix variation is the rarest produced version of what is widely regarded as The Beatles most creative and finest work. It contains a unique extended mix of the simply magnificent John Lennon composition, 'Tomorrow Never Knows' which has never been issued on any subsequent release of 'Revolver'.

This first pressing was quickly withdrawn, which features the different mix of Tomorrow Never Knows, known as (Remix 11) The song has more Tape Loops, and a slightly longer Honky Tonk Piano at the end of the song.

The Beatles ‘Revolver’ album is considered one of most iconic and collectible Albums of the 20th Century, and was released by Parlophone UK on the 5th August 1966.

This 1966 alternate mono mix was available only on UK 1st Issue vinyl mono pressings of 'Revolver' with the side 2 matrix 'XEX 606-1' and has never been issued on CD.

Album Description and Condition:

This original 1966 UK mono, first issue Parlophone Vinyl LP is on the traditional Black and Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd’ label rim, with ‘Sold in UK…..’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ label text.

Both record labels are in very nice Excellent condition, the labels are free from any damage, the Yellow and Silver printed text are clear and undamaged, both labels show some light centre spindle lines.

Both sides of the heavyweight vinyl Disc are in beautiful Excellent to Excellent Plus condition, the vinyl surfaces are extremely clean and bright, free from deep scratches and scuffs, all that is visible under strong lighting are a couple of very light hairline scratches, and light signs of the record being taken in and out of the inner sleeve.

Having played the LP, the album play’s with STUNNING sound quality through all of the tracks, there are NO skips, clicks or pops, the sound quality is so clear and precise, there is just a little background crackle at the start of a few tracks on side 2, but nothing major, the important Tomorrow Never Knows track play’s without fault.

Over the years I have had several of these 606-1s, this one has a beautiful fresh sound quality.

Side 1 matrix: XEX 605-2 and Side 2 XEX 606-1.
Side 1 stampers: 1 RP and Side 2: 2 AG.

There is a visible embossed ‘KT’ tax/price code visible to the centre of the side 2 record label.

The album comes in a use Emitex inner record bag which is in fine Excellent plus condition, the bag has no tears or seam splits, just creasing.

The Vinyl LP is housed in it’s original first issue, front laminated Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd, London picture sleeve, printed ‘mono’ to the top right hand corner, and large flipbacks to the reverse.

The sleeve is in superb Excellent to Excellent Plus condition, the front laminated panel still retains its gloss shine, with only very tiny bumps to three of the corners.

The reverse panel of the sleeve is clean and undamaged, with a very clean black area, and only mild signs of record storage, there is a small name written in ink on John’s arm. All three large flipbacks are undamaged, the spine edge and other two edges are free from splits, the spine edge wording Revolver- The Beatles is clearly legible.

A very well cared for example of this classic and very collectible Revolver album with the side two matrix of XEX 606-1. And continues to be a firm favourite among Beatles collectors, this UK FIRST ISSUE Album, is now in it’s 47th year since the original release back in August 1966.
