This is a 7-inch, 45 RPM Vinyl Single.

What makes this record EXTREMELY UNIQUE are its MISMATCHED LABELS!

The A-Side, with “Please Please Me”, has the VJ ALL-BLACK LABEL WITH SILVER PRINT AND WHITE VJ BRACKETS LOGO, and the B-Side, with “From Me To You”, has the VJ ALL-BLACK LABEL WITH SILVER PRINT AND VJ OVAL LOGO!!!

Both labels were issued in 1964, and the error most likely occurred when Vee Jay Records was transitioning from one logo label style to the other.

These VJ error label records are SELDOM FOUND and RARELY COME AVAILABLE for auction or purchase. They are definitely “few and far between”, as they say.

The VINYL is in GOOD (G) CONDITION with numerous light scratches/hairlines/scuffs (but none of them are “feelable”). There is also wear on the perimeter color-bands of both labels. The vinyl still has nice gloss for its condition in spite of the numerous scratches/hairlines/scuffs on the vinyl.

Despite the low grade of the vinyl, the real value of this record is in the mismatched labels.

Also included with this record is a VJ paper sleeve. This VJ SLEEVE is in NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION. This sleeve has the VJ Brackets Logo 14 times on the right and was used with Vee-Jay Beatles singles pressed in 1964. The thumb tab at the top opening identifies this as a West Coast sleeve.There are NO tears, NO creases, NO writing, NO seam splits on this sleeve.

I’ve only had one other copy of a VJ-581 with mismatched VJ labels previously. So the record in this auction is only the second Beatles VJ single I’ve seen with mismatched labels. I’ve been collecting Beatles vinyl for more than 40 years, so this should confirm the rarity of this record.
This record is definitely a RARITY and is a “MUST HAVE” RECORD for any BEATLES’ VINYL COLLECTION!
