Original 1st US Vee-Jay Records pressing 7” 45 RPM single of The Beatles “Please, Please Me” & “From Me To You” released on January 30, 1964. In early October, 1964 in order to increase the sales of The Beatles singles before losing its rights to manufacture and distribute Beatles products on October 15, 1964, Vee-Jay Records prepared a special picture sleeve for the holiday season with a “The Beatles We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” banner at the top. Original 1st print black oval Vee-Jay logo labels with a multi-colored spectrum band and “VJ 581” catalog number. The vinyl of this copy was pressed by American Record Co. plant pressing in Owosso, MI containing the “ARP” machine stamp in the runout groove on both sides. The full 1st matrix numbers are as follows: Side 1 - 63-2967 AudioMatrix ARP RA; Side 2 – 63-3218 AudioMatrix ARP.

The picture sleeve is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits, tears or missing pieces. The glossy vinyl is graded as Excellent Minus visually with its audio being Excellent. It has only a few very light non-feelable surface marks the majority of which are located in the runout areas and can be see only under a strong light. The labels are graded as Excellent. They're very clean and don't have any spindle marks or wear, with the Side 1 just having some very light age shelf wear. The vinyl sounds great having a warm and pleasant Mono sound only having some very light static at the very beginning and the end of each side which most likely will go away if the record was cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
