Description

Artist :  THE BEATLES

LP Title :  Please Please Me

Label :  Parlophone / PCS 3042 / 1963 / STEREO

Matrix/Stamper Numbers :  YEX 94-1 (mother=1, stamper=GO) / YEX 95-1 (mother=1, stamper=T)

Notes :  very early Stereo pressing, 'Parlophone' text on rims, 'Recording First Published 1963' text, but without 'Sold In UK...' text, laminated G&L flipback sleeve with large Stereo text on front, one of the very first Stereo pressings with the yellow and black Parlophone labels, pressed from the No.1 mothers.

Condition :  vinyl looks and sounds wonderful, I am listening to this right now, and it really does sound crisp and stunning, with the very lightest signs of static noise during the silence in between songs, plus some tiny clicks on side 2, this LP has really been cared for and can't have been played that much in the 44 years since it was purchased, to my ears this sounds like a near mint disc, and all this is without any attempt at cleaning the vinyl at all, so with a little bit of care some of this could probably be cleaned away, leaving this sounding even better!  It has to be heard to be believed, a beautiful sounding very early pressing.

Visually there are a couple of hairline marks, but these are very very light and do not appear to affect the audio quality.

The labels are nice and clean too, only the 'K' of tax code is visible, no other letter?  There are a couple of very light spindle marks on either side.

The original lined 'Emitex' inner sleeve is in very good shape with some corner creasing, a 1cm tear on the opening edge, and a 6cm downwards split from the top of one side edge.

The sleeve is also in wonderful sharp clean condition, bright colours and glossy laminate, with a couple of very light laminate crease marks a tiny dint on the top left next to "THE", the most minor of wear down the opening edge, and again minor signs of corner wear, the spine is bright white, nice and tight with perfect text and practically no wear, the matt surface on the rear shows the lightest signs of handling marks with a few little spots around the 'Important' text box in the top right corner.

So all-in-all a truly amazing example of this rare early stereo pressing of a classic Beatles album.

One of the photos on the left shows the spines of all eight Beatles LP's that we are auctioning on eBay in the next day or so, including this one - so feel free to check our other rare auctions!
