Description
I am continuing to sell more Beatles and Beatles-related vinyl from my own extensive collection, mostly duplicates. So, please check my other auctions for vinyl you may want for your own collection.
In this auction is a NICE RARE PROMO LP:
· “HELP! Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” by the Beatles
· This LP is Capitol MAS 2386.
· This is a MONO (monaural) PRESSING.
· This LP was issued August 13, 1965.
· There are several features that make this LP special:
1. It is a MONAURAL PRESSING.
2. It is a FIRST PRESSING.
3. This LP is still in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP.
4. Capitol Records designated this copy as a PROMOTIONAL ALBUM (details below).
· In the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels, you will find the following information on page 12:
“In the case of Capitol Records, from mid-1964 to mid-1969, promotional albums were marked with a series of small holes punched through the cover. These drill holes read the abbreviations “PROMO” or “PROM” or (later) the word “FREE”. Because of their special status, these promo copies are sought by collectors and are listed in the Guide.”
· You can see “PROMO” spelled out in drill holes on the top right corner of this LP that go through the shrink wrap and gatefold cover to the rear of the cover. (Please check out the images.)
· The COVER is in NEAR MINT CONDITION and still in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. There is just some slight aging of the white cover.
· The Shrink Wrap has “breathe holes”.
· The VINYL is ALSO NEAR MINT.
· The VINYL is a FIRST PRESSING. We know this because:
1. The labels are without “subsidiary” in the rim print.
2. The labels do not credit Ken Thorne as writer of the last track on each side.
3. The label does not list “You Can’t Do That” as part of track 4 on side 2. (There’s an empty space.)
· This LP comes with its ORIGINAL CAPITOL RECORDS INNER PAPER SLEEVE which is olive green, the correct sleeve for this first pressing, AND it has most of the word “PROMO” in drill holes through it too!!! (Please see images.) This inner sleeve has a ½ inch split on the bottom.
THIS LP IS INDEED A RARE ONE AND READY TO GO TO SOME HIGH BIDDER’S COLLECTION!!!
Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for information about this record.
