Description
Original Master Recordings are Limited Edition, state-of-the-art recordings from Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. This "mint" condition set includes the Beatles original 14 British (EMI) albums housed in static free inner sleeve. The Collection is a vinyl boxed set of every Beatles album remastered at half speed from the original stereo master recordings. Each album was pressed on black vinyl by the Victor Co of Japan, except for Magical Mystery Tour which was mastered from Capitol Records' submasters with the last three tracks in re-channeled stereo. The custom album covers have photos of a tape and an open tape box with a log sheet showing information about the original tape as it was transferred to disc.
Released in October 1982, The Collection was revered by critics and Beatles fans worldwide for the superb sound, and sold-out completely within the first year. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) pressed a second run of the Beatles Boxed Set for a total production run of 25,000 over the next few years until October 1985.
The box set includes a 12-by-12 40 page color booklet. It contains the Certificate of Authenticity, individually numbered. This boxed set is #4146. There are pictures of the original album covers, both front and back which are included in the booklet. There is a discography at the back of the booklet. A Geo Disc is included which is used to align and set the stylus and cartridge to a transcription deck.
I am the original owner, and an avid Beatles fan, audio guy and musician. The LP’s are in mint condition. A few of the LP’s were played for purpose of recording to tape, but most were never played at all. The black box is in excellent condition with the only exception being a slight scuff mark on the underside of the box. The boxed set has been stored upright in a cool, dry, smoke free environment.
