Description

Welcome to 20th Century Collectables

Quality vinyl for the discerning collector

The Beatles – Revolver 1966 – UK 1st STEREO pressing on the yellow & black Parlophone label, PCS 7009 dating to the original release date of August 5th 1966.

Positively a UK 1966 1st STEREO pressing of Revolver with abbreviated ‘Dr Robert’ label credit - not a later pressing from 1968.

A solid example of this ultra rare 1966 stereo pressing

In 1966 EMI were still producing vast quantities of mono records compared with stereo and as such these stereo records are far scarcer than their mono counterparts.

Happy bidding and good luck!

Matrix numbers: YEX 605-1 & YEX 606-1

Stamper codes: 2/GO PD & 2/GR (early stampers)

Disc

Visual:  VG+ to EXC -

There are marks to the vinyl but nothing severe or feelable. Although it has clearly been played this 1st STEREO pressing vinyl has been looked after over its 53 year history. The vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable. Grades between VG+ and excellent-, with side one more towards VG+ and side 2 more towards excellent-.

Labels:  Side one EXCELLENT - Side two VERY GOOD +

An early set of 1st issue stereo labels with the abbreviated ‘Dr Robert’ label credit. Spindle trails are visible to each label with signs of light wear around the spindle holes. Labels are still bright and the label text is unworn and still appears fresh. Most importantly there are no signs of writing or any personalization to any label. Side two carries the KT tax code.

Audio:  Side one EXCELLENT  Side two EXCELLENT +

Superb and excellent audio from this early UK 1st STEREO pressing. Very little if any groove wear or distortion. I noticed a small ‘pop’ during I’m Only Sleeping and there is some occasional light surface noise in places but Eleanor Rigby plays superbly without any unwanted distractions as indeed does the whole record. A great analogue listening experience. The record does not jump or stick.

Cover

EXCELLENT -

A well preserved cover especially the front panel which still retains much of its original freshness. The rear panel is also in nice condition. The back panel on Revolver notorious for becoming soiled but this is clean and fresh. On close inspection I noticed some light damage to the flipback along the bottom edge by the opening. All in all a very decent and early 1st issue STEREO Garrod & Lofthouse cover dating to 1966 and severely graded at excellent minus.

Inner-sleeve EXCELLENT

Original inner.
