Description
The Beatles ‘Please Please Me’
Mono PMC 1202
Parlophone BROWN and GOLD label with first pressing vinyl and labels.
XEX421-1N (1 L) XEX 422-1N (1 L)
Lots of scratches visible on the vinyl, some are cosmetic surface scratches others a little deeper. On playback, audible clicks in quieter parts. A few louder pops but nothing too distracting. Slight skip during ‘I Saw Her Standing There’. Side 2 probably sounds better than side 1, GOOD audio condition. Still playable and enjoyable despite its wear!
The labels obviously have evidence of playing with visible spindle wear around the hole on each side but not excessively so. There is evidence of sticker removal on side 1. Still very good examples with no other defacements.
The original 1963 Ernest J Day cover has the ‘Angus McBean’ photo credit in the extreme bottom right hand corner. Repositioned slightly to the left on all later cover print runs. The front of the cover looks pretty good with just a pen mark at the top, the end of the first ‘m’ in mono missing (it looks like ‘nono’) and a slight loss of the laminate and picture right under the yellow ‘ES’ in ‘THE BEATLES’. The spine is good and intact. On the back the top flipback has come away and the top of the cover is split about half way along. The bottom flipback is starting to come away too. There is also the number 17 circled, written in blue ink at the top. Overall it’s a GOOD example. Some damage and imperfections but it reflects the life and condition of the record! There is a nice and clean EMITEX poly lined inner to protect the record in the cover.
