This fantastic copy with a full set of promotional materials was mail pre-ordered by the owner significantly earlier before January, 1969 when the album appeared in Japanese music stores. Unlike the retail copy, the mail pre-ordered copies, besides the standard “White Album” memorabilia, featured the additional promotional materials. I think nowadays it's impossible to find a copy of this album in this combination. Very 1st print glossy gatefold numbered cover with the 1st print “Gourd” green rectangular obi with a large round Apple Records logo which first appeared on “White Album” as before 1969 all of The Beatles albums contained an obi of only rectangular shape. When looking at the promotional materials that come with the album it’s worth noting the highest quality paper and superb printing quality, I think the best in the world. Even though the poster and four portraits are standard to the “White Album” issue you can tell right away that they were manufactured in Japan. Original four portrait style photos with a rice-paper protective sheet are larger than the US and UK version and executed on the highest quality satin card stock, just like the poster created by the designer of the original cover Richard Hamilton. The Japanese version of this album contains a Toshiba Musical Industries Ltd. 12 cm (4¾ inches) x 18 cm (7⅛ inches) track listing insert with the text printed in English and Japanese having the AP-8570~71 catalog number. The insert contains the misprints in “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road”, “Revolution 1” and “Revolution 9”. In addition to these promotional materials, this copy includes the exclusive unique, mail pre-order copies only, promotional materials:

Insanely rare original “‘The Beatles’ Release Commemoration” Japanese style signed 9 cm (3 ½ inches) x 14 cm (5½ inches) portrait photo using the silver bromide. A photographic film is coated with silver bromide and when light falls on the surface, the exposed part of the film is darkened from which the photograph is developed. Received as a gift for pre-ordering “The Beatles” album before its official release in Japan, the portrait photo came in an original Toshiba / Apple white envelope with the large Apple Records logo and “Toshiba’s Apple record” text. 

This mail pre-order copy received before the album’s official release in Japan contains a very rare narrow dark green background 1st print “Gourd” Obi with a large round Apple Records logo, catalog number AP-8570~71 and the 1st pressing ¥4,000 price. Original high-quality Japanese style glossy gatefold type numbered “The Beatles” embossed open side cover. 1st print Apple Records green labels with 2 misspelled track titles indicating “Gentry” in “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Truffie” in “Savoy Truffle”. The back cover contains the “Toshiba Musical Industries Ltd.” credit, which can also be found on the back side of the poster containing the lyrics. This copy includes two original UK style Apple Records custom black die-cut inner sleeves with contoured corners. Very early 1st pressing red wax Toshiba EverClean anti-static vinyl pressing with the 1st -1S / -1S / -1S / -1S matrix stampers. The full matrix numbers containing the “EverClean” machine stamp are as follows: Side 1 - YEX-709 1S2 〄 9 8H; Side 2 - YEX-710 1S2 〄; Side 3 - YEX-711 1S2 〄 8M; Side 4 – YEX-712 1S 9 〄.
