THE BEATLES - 'HELP!'
It's always a pleasure to list a UK Beatles variation for the first time, and they don't come much rarer than this.
This is a UK 1st mono pressing LP dating from August 1965 release on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1255
However, the disc is not the rarity here, it's the cover....The cover is a UK 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with a small solid black front mono indicator.
99.9% of all UK mono covers produced had an outline 'mono' indicator, making these small solid black mono covers extremely rare.
Disc matrices: XEX 549-2 & XEX 550-2
Stamper codes: 5/RLA & 1,6/RHR
Vinyl weight: 147g
CONDITION
Cover: VERY GOODRarer than the mono cover without a front mono indicator, sometimes found with 1969 '1-EMI box' mono discs, this ultra-rare cover was made in only a tiny single batch.
This example with clean & fully intact with moderate handling and storagewear but no major faults. The front panel bears signs of storage rubbing and there are a handful of 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards the front opening edge. There is some softening to the corner tips but no tears or damage to either opening edge. There are several wrinkles visible on the spine although the wording there is clean & readable. The rear panel is clean and white overall with just a couple of tiny age spots. All flipbacks are intact, as are both seams.
You'll be luck to find another in any condition.
Disc: GOOD
A well played disc with noticeable surface marks and light scratches consistent with frequent handling and play.
