GEORGE HARRISON: ‘WONDERWALL MUSIC’ – A BEAUTIFUL STEREO ISSUE OF THIS UK ISSUE APPLE RECORDS VINYL LP, Cat No, SAPCOR 1.
This was George Harrison’s first solo album release, and the first solo release by a Beatle, and also the very first Apple Records album release.
This album was the soundtrack to the 1968 film Wonderwall, which starred Jack MacGowran, Jane Birkin, Irene Handl, and Richard Wattis. The film received its World premiere at the Cannes film festival on the 17th May 1968, at which George and Ringo both attended. The director was Joe Mussot, who was a personal friend of George's, and invited him to compose the music for the film. George was shown an unfinished version of the film, and made home recordings of each theme which he used as an outline in the actual recordings. But, many were just basic outlines, and George relied on the experience of the musicians to expand and develop the themes in the studio.
Wonderwall Music was released 21 day’s before the release of The Beatles White Album on the 1st November 1968, this issue dates from July 1969 on the Custom Apple Record Labels, WITHOUT, Sold in UK record label text, all first issues of this album had the Sold in UK label reference, this label reference was scrapped in July 1969.
Both record labels are in immaculate Mint Minus condition, both labels look as new with the exception of one play each side.
The stamped matrixes STAP 1A-1 have been crossed out and replaced with, SAPCOR 1A- 1, on side one, and SAPCOR 1B-3, on side two.
The side one Stampers are: 1GM and side 2 stampers 1O.
Both sides of the beautiful Vinyl LP are in absolutely immaculate and unmarked Mint condition, high glossy vinyl surfaces to both sides that look as new.
The Vinyl LP comes in it’s Original white printed Apple Records Inner record bag and is housed in its Original Glossy Laminated Picture sleeve, and also includes the Apple Records double sided card insert.
The laminated Picture Sleeve is in immaculate and beautiful Mint condition, a stunning very firm glossy and undamaged sleeve that looks as good as did when new, simply stunning.
The double sided Apple Records insert is also in immaculate Mint condition, there are no tears, or any other damage to the insert.
A beautiful example of George Harrison’s first official UK Apple release in Stereo format, complete with it’s original Apple insert.
