The Beatles Collection 1985 Parlophone BC-13 13 LP Blue Box Set.
1985 unnumbered version with no blue title page insert included. I originally was going to list the covers only as a set-for framing perhaps- because the discs in this set are a bit noisy in large part for whatever reason (I am the second owner of this set).But, I couldn't see throwing away the nice box and the 13 discs as there may be someone out there who might be happy to have a starter set of the UK vinyls (pre-"Magical Mystery Tour" acceptance into the 33 1/3 UK realm, that is. And pre-"Past Masters" as well),box and all. So, I am starting the bidding off at a very reasonable price to offset the non-audiophile experience that are the records on this set. I will give a detailed play-by-play below...
Box: Very nice, rich blue color. One inch-long tear in the blue material on the right side at the swivel point-opening and a small beginning tear on the opposite side (1/4 inch long there-see photos) .On very back, there's a 3 inch slight stain/light tear-see photo).
Covers: The highpoint of the set are these(Beatles For Sale's sleeve looks like it just rolled off the presses for example). They are all uniformly near mint considering their age (42 years ago!).There are the inevitable creases on these thinner, UK styled covers and I can't list every single crease, but assume most of these sleeves has 1-2 only to several.Mostly visible in a certain light/angle. Slight problems with the sleeves/extras( I tried to list a photo of all of these problems as well) in the collection include: 1. Please Please Me has 1 inch seam split at top spine 2., With The Beatles- 2 white blemishes on front (one at lower left, smaller at lower right) 3. Sgt. Pepper-no cutouts included 4. White Album- approximate 1 inch seam wear on top spine of the second discs' gatefold. Pictures perfect except George's has a crease lower right hand side. Poster very nice except has purple discoloration in spots on one sheet (again see photos).Some pencil tracing like indentions visible at a certain angle on the front cover. 5. Let It Be the same type of indentions on front cover, again visible in a certain light/angle only.
Discs: I will utilize a noise/crackle level of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst- e.g. "3/10" is 3 out of 10) in between tracks for this section. "Needle drop" at the "dead wax area" is self-explanatory, but if one is needed, it's the needle's placement the very beginning (in this item listing/playgrading I only listed the dead wax at the beginning and not the spot at the end)of the disc at the edge before the music starts. Note that in most cases, even when the noise level is fairly high (like 4/10 or 5/10,if it's a loud performance (like "Little Child" or ""Ticket To Ride"),the noise usually gets pushed to the back of the soundstage. In quieter cases like for example the beginning of "Here Comes The Sun" where it's just an acoustic guitar, you'll still hear a larger portion of that noise of course. The fidelity is still there, though in all cases in the discs, just joined by some unfortunate crackle in places.

Please Please Me: VISUALLY: NM Glossy. Light pressing blemishes about an area of 1 inch over 2 songs (doesn't appear to be audible). No scratches. AUDIO: Side 1 Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10,afterwards down to 1/10,some in between tracks are also nearly silent. Side 2 Dead Wax area 4/10,it quickly goes down to 1/10 afterwards and remains so for the rest of the side -some silence in between tracks as well.One of the nicest discs in the set.

With The Beatles: VISUALLY: Glossy,5-10 surface scratches, VG++ both sides AUDIO: Side 1 Dead Wax area noise level is 5/10,goes down to 4/10 before "All I've Got To Do" and after that track ends, it goes down to 2/10 in between tracks the rest of the side. Side 2 Dead Wax area noise level is 4/10,is down to 3/10 in between "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Hold Me Tight" ,then after that track ends, is down to 2/10 the remainder of the side.

A Hard Day's Night: VISUALLY: Side 1: 20-ish tiny surface scratches all in a 2 inch area, otherwise glossy VG++ Side 2: 2-4 surface scratches VG++ AUDIO: Side 1 Noisy in between tracks-noise level is 5/10 most of the way through. Side 2 Strangely, pretty quiet from the Dead Wax area until the end of the side. Noise level is 1/10 throughout.

Beatles For Sale: VISUALLY: Side 1: 2 big smudge marks,5 significant surface scratches (1 long one) & 5 lighter scratches. Side 2: No real scratches, light fingerprint smudges. AUDIO: Side 1:Noisy from the Dead Wax area all the way through. Noise level of 5/10. Side 2 Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10,is down to 1-2/10 for the remainder of Side 2.Some tracks completely quiet in between tracks on Side 2.

HELP! : VISUALLY: Side 1: several fingerprint smudges,1-2 light scratches. Side 2: 4-5 small smudgey blemishes, perhaps 5-10 ghostly light scratches.VG++ AUDIO: Side 1 Noisy all the way through with a noise level of 5/10 Side 2: Dead Wax area noise level is 5/10,after "Act Naturally" ends, it's down to 4/10,then after "You Like Me Too Much", it's down to 3/10,gradually settling into 2/10 after "Tell Me What You See" and the rest of the way.

Rubber Soul: VISUALLY Side 1:small hazy swirl over small area of Side 1,5 or so scratches. Side 2: 5 or so scratches. AUDIO: Side 1 Noise level is 5-6/10 all the way through the side. Side 2 Dead Wax area noise level is 4/10,after " What Goes On", it is down to 3/10 and soon afterwards is down to 2/10 for the remainder of the side.

Revolver: VISUALLY: Side 1: 3-5 light marks, Side 2: several surface scratches. AUDIO: Side 1 Noise level is 5/10 all the way through. Side 2 Dead Wax area noise level is 5/10 and it gradually goes down to 4/10 for the remainder of the side.

Sgt. Pepper: VISUALLY: Side 1 several (5-10) scratches Side 2 several (5-10) scratches. AUDIO: Side 1 Dead Wax area noise level is 5/10,gradually goes down to 4/10 for the remainder of the side. Side 2: Dead Wax area noise level is 6/10 and remains so for the rest of the side.

White Album: VISUALLY: Side 1; One small area of surface scratches.VG++. One inch area (white) of label blemishes at 2 o clock right side. Side 2: One inch area of 5-10 scratches, several very light other scratches scattered across the side.VG++. Side 3: 2 blemish areas and one small surface scratch otherwise glossy. Side 4: Close to perfect, no issues. AUDIO: Side 1: Dead Wax area noise level is 4/10,gradually at the midway point, it goes down to 3/10,then at the fade of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" it is down to 1/10. Side 2: Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10 and by the point of "Don't Pass Me By" it is down to 2/10.After the aforementioned track, it is largely silent in between tracks for the rest of the side. Side 3: Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10 and then after "Birthday" is down to 1-2/10 for the remainder of Side 3. Side 4:Dead Wax area noise level is 2/10 and after "Revolution1" is very quiet in between tracks for the rest of the side, nearly silent. Yellow Submarine: VISUALLY: NM,2 small scratches, otherwise close to perfect. Side 2 : Mint. No issues. AUDIO: Side 1:Dead Wax area has a brief round of crackle with each revolution itself being at a noise level of 3/10,probably short-lived as it is long gone after the opening track is done. So, in between that ("Yellow Submarine") and the upcoming "It's Only A Northern Song", the noise level is now a nice 1/10-very quiet for the remainder of the side. Side 2: Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10 and by the end of the opener it is down to a very nice level of 1/10 for the rest of the side. Nearly silent.

Abbey Road: VISUALLY: Side 1: 3 surface scratches,1 smudgey area. Side 2: 2-3 smudgey/pressing blemish areas.3 light, small surface scratches. AUDIO: Side 1 : Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10,then in between "Come Together" and "Something" it has gone down to 2/10,then after "Something" and before "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" it is down to 1/10-very quiet for the rest of Side 1. Side 2: Dead Wax area noise level is 5/10 and remains so for the remainder of the side. This (as noted earlier) intrudes on the quiet beginnings of the first few tracks on Side 2 and the segue into "Sun King", but don't affect the "rockers" too much.

Let It Be: VISUALLY: Side 1: Multiple scratches and smudges. Side 2: 4-5 light scratches, otherwise beautiful.VG++. AUDIO: Side 1: Dead Wax area has a noise level of 6/10 and remains so until the end of the side. Side 2:Dead Wax area has a noise level of 6/10 also, but after "I've Got A Feeling" it is down to 4/10 for the rest of the side.

Rarities: VISUALLY: Side 1: a couple of smudgey blemishes very light, Nearly perfect otherwise, very glossy. Side 2: maybe 5 or so very hard to see surface scratches close to NM. I'd say VG++. AUDIO: Side 1: Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10 until just before "This Boy" where it has gone down to 2/10 for the rest of the side. Side 2"Dead Wax area noise level is 3/10 and then after "Rain" it is down to 2/10.After "Matchbox" it is now 1/10 for the rest of the side-some in between areas largely silent.
