LIMITED NUMBER PRINTED BY QUEENS LITHO, NEW YORK STRAIGHT CUT TOP

RCA RECORDS PLANT INDIANAPOLIS, IN PLANT CONTRACT PRESSING WITH THE “I” IDENTIFIER

VERY EARLY 1ST MACHINE STAMPED -A1 / -A1 MATRIX NUMBERS

This Capitol Records 7” 45 RPM featuring Can’t Buy Me Love / You Can’t Do That was released on March 16, 1964, four days earlier than the UK release. The pre-orders for this single topped 1 million. This picture sleeve is considered to be the rarest of all commercial issue Beatles picture sleeves ever released by Capitol Records. The titles of the singles are indicated below a large Beatles banner with the Capitol Records logo and the catalog number 5150 on the right side. The composition is concluded by the legendary photo of Dezider Hoffman which was previously placed on the first Beatles single “I Want to Hold Your Hand / I Saw Her Standing There”. The picture sleeve was ordered by Capitol Records from Queens Litho located in New York. Original 1st print orange-yellow swirl labels without the “Subsidiary…” print contain the “Northern Songs Music Ltd.” publishing credits. The Keystone-printed labels have the title of the singles written on 1 line unlike the West Coast labels printed by Bert-Co that have it on 2 lines. This copy’s vinyl represents a very rare RCA Records contract pressing and contains the very early -A1 / -A1 matrix numbers. The runout groove also has the plant identifier in the form of a “I” stick. The full matrix numbers of this copy are as follows: Side 1 - 45X 44914 F11 1 A1; Side 2 - 45X 44913 F9   1 A1.

I grade the cover as Excellent. It's very clean and doesn't have any writing, splits or wear. It almost doesn't any ring wear, only some light hints of it in a couple of spots. Some very light age discoloration in a few places. The vinyl is graded visually as Very Good having some hairlines and marks along with some light scuffs from the inner sleeve. The glossy labels are in Very Good Plus condition having some very light scuffing. However, the vinyl plays great with only just some very light static that most likely could go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
