This enchanting box, which is  rare today,  bears inscriptions such as “The Beatles Box”, “From Liverpool”, “Express” and  which contains long-playing Beatles records - each in beautiful red sleeves –  was intended solely for distribution by mail order (through the mail order wing  of E.M.I. – “World Records”), and was destined for the British market only. The  first advertisement designed to promote the sale of this issue appeared in the UK press on 5th  November 1980. (throughout the whole of 1981, it was repeated every month). By  the way, even by the following year it was possible to obtain this collection  in many specialist American and Canadian shops. In conclusion, I should  reiterate that of the 126  songs recorded here, some are none other than completely or slightly different  versions of songs already released under the official Beatles albums. We should  recall that this vast and highly necessary work was produced by Simon Sinclair,  having put together a total of 126   songs, and designer Frank Watkins, who originally  designed all eight albums in the collection, not to mention Hugh Marshall, who  put together accompanying articles and comments about this marvellous  collection!
