Insanely rare copy of The Beatles Original Motion Picture Soundtrack “A Hard Day’s Night” pressed by the Monarch Los Angeles pressing plant. This rarest pressing, based on △9490 matrix number in the trail-off vinyl, began to be prepared by Monarch for distribution on the West Coast in September, 1966. This pressing is clearly underestimated in terms of its rarity because you could spend several years searching for it in vain as the majority of the copies of this album were pressed at the HV Waddell or Columbia Records pressing plants. The unique rarest United Artists labels of this Monarch pressing contain the corrected title of the “I’ll Cry Instead” track. The absence of timing after each song, centered song titles, 2.75” pressing ring as well as the unique Monarch typeface are also a part of this one of a kind label variation. 1st print first version 3-line publishing credits cover has only “This Boy” credited to Maclen Music alone while the other songs are co-credited to Unart Music. The center of the front cover contains a very rare original promotional single “INCLUDES RINGO’S THEME (THIS BOY) / AND I LOVE HER” orange hype sticker underneath the shrink wrap. The cover remaining in the original shrink wrap has a very interesting feature on the back slick. The last photo of Paul in the bottom row on this cover has an additional vertical black line on the right side while many covers of this album do not have it. The presence of the black line can be attributed to the fact that one of the companies that printed the back cover slicks used a layout that was improperly aligned. The album comes with an original "United Artists Records The Proudest Name in Entertainment" inner sleeve with the indicated "Best-Selling United Artists Albums" on the back side. The vinyl contains the very early 1st -1A / -1A matrix numbers in the trail-off vinyl along with the identifiers in the form of the “△”(Delta) symbol and machine stamped MR in Circle identifying this copy as the Monarch Los Angeles plant pressing. The full matrix numbers are as follows: Side 1 - UAL 3366A-1A K MR in Circle △9490  / Side 2 - UAL 3366B- 1A G MR in Circle △9490-x. As a bonus to this incredibly rare Monarch Los Angeles pressing copy, the listing includes a very rare "The Beatles in A Hard Day's Night" official 16-page movie souvenir program printed by "Program Publishing Company" New York in 1964. The booklet measures 10.5" x 8". This rarest piece of The Beatles memorabilia features the color and b&w photos supported by the description along with an introduction essay, cast and production credits, and the description of the featured songs.

The beautiful cover remaining in its original factory shrink wrap is in Near Mint condition. The original official souvenir program booklet and United Artists inner sleeve are in Near Mint Minus condition. I grade the vinyl as Very Good Plus. It retains its shiny factory gloss but has a few hairlines along with some marks and scuffs from the inner sleeve. The rarest Monarch pressing labels are super clean and in Excellent Minus condition, scuff- and wear-free, only having a few very light spindle marks visible under a strong light source. The vinyl sounds great only having some light background noise, which becomes more evident during the quiet passages and in between the songs, but is barely audible during the songs, and perhaps is just the static and will get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned with a VPI cleaning machine.
