Description
On offer another original vinyl classic from my own personal collection purchased new in the 1960s & 70s This time I have dug deep and pulled out my MONO copy of "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" performed by The BEATLES. This 1st. pressing was released in 1967 on the yellow & black Parlophone label No. PMC 7027. with matrix side one XEX 637-1, side two XEX 638-1 & comes complete original cut-out insert.
Condition: The surface of the vinyl retains a really good gloss, both sides show noticeable surface marks, these I pretty sure are only the result of simply removing the record from its paper sleeve. There is just one hairline scratch to side two however this is not audible when the record is being played. Having just play checked the entire album I would like to confirm that the quality of the mono sound is stunning, there exists very little surface crackle, which can only be heard in the run-in and very quite passages. Both labels are very clean with just some spindle marks, there are no other defects. The original issue red and white paper sleeve shows only wear associated with normal handling (minor creasing to the upper edge). The cut-out insert is flawless, having spent the past 48 years in the sleeve of the cover. The fully laminated surfaces of the Garrod & Lofthouse cover with flip-backs to the internal upper edges has no major defects, there exists only minor wear to the corners and opening edges. The spine has minimal creasing and all wording is easily readable.
All things considered this is a very desirable example of this iconic album which was adopted by so many as their theme song for the summer of love, I have graded both the record and its packaging with a VERY GOOD PLUS with ref. to the Record Collector grading system.
