This disc is the last pressing of Rubber Soul to carry 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd.' label rim text, and is pressed using what are considered, in the muddled world of Beatles '60's issues, as 1st pressing matrix endings, thus producing identical sound to 1965 copies.
I bought this copy sometime in 1970/71 having acquired a brand new 'stereo' record player, so I handled the disc like it was made out of glass, determined to keep it pristine. It looks unplayed but obviously I did play it more than once.
The disc has immaculate playing surfaces which produce flawless sound from all fourteen tracks. There are NO marks anywhere, and only the wispiest of handling lines under powerful light. The minimal spindle trails are almost invisible and are still hard to see, even when tilted towards reflected light (which I have shown in the photos above). Face-on, the labels look immaculate too.
I have recorded part of the first track on my cellphone (so not great audio quality), because there is a 'shush' sound on the run-in. This has been there from new, despite the groove being pristine.
Even though this was bought in the early seventies, the cover is a 1st issue tri-flipback, so it probably came from surplus stock. It is in reasonably good condition and although the unprotected back panel has age toned, it is unmarked. The spine is perfect. The photos show its overall condition. Still a fine example, just showing the signs of general handling and storage. The L.P. advertising inner is in near perfect condition.

The photos are of the actual item. I always use professional, anti-static, cleaning fluid and listen to the whole disc. Professional mailers are always used.
