The BEATLES
"I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" b/w "THIS BOY"
7" single...pressed in Australia...on Parlophone (distributed by E.M.I. [Australia] Ltd. here...catalogue number: A-8103)...
There were at least THIRTEEN different label variations of this 45 issued here - this one is the very rare LABEL VARIATION #6 ...still from as early as mid-1964 :
LABEL VARIATION #1: ...for the 'A' side song title, 'I WANT TO HOLD YOUR" is on the top line, with 'HAND' separately on the next line beneath it...also on the 'A' side, to the left of the centre-hole, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in upright/NON-italic text. On the 'B' side, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is also in upright/NON-italic text...BUT...it is NOT centred within the 2 thin lines above and below it - it's mistakenly been positioned to the right. The letters in the song title 'THIS BOY' are spaced quite wide apart.
LABEL VARIATION #2: ...for the 'A' side song title, 'I WANT TO HOLD YOUR" is on the top line, with 'HAND' separately on the next line beneath it...also on the 'A' side, to the left of the centre-hole, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in sloping text/italics. On the 'B' side, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in upright/NON-italic text...BUT...it is NOT centred within the 2 thin lines above and below it - it's mistakenly been positioned to the right. The letters in the song title 'THIS BOY' are spaced quite wide apart.
LABEL VARIATION #3: ...for the 'A' side song title, 'I WANT TO HOLD YOUR" is on the top line, with 'HAND' separately on the next line beneath it...also, to the left of the centre-hole, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in upright/NON-italic text...on both sides...(and has been centred correctly on the 'B' side from now on, for all subsequent variations). The letters in the song title 'THIS BOY' are spaced quite wide apart.
LABEL VARIATION #4: ...for the 'A' side song title, 'I WANT TO HOLD YOUR" is on the top line, with 'HAND' separately on the next line beneath it...also on the 'A' side, to the left of the centre-hole, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in sloping text/italics. On the 'B' side, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in upright/NON-italic text...(and has been centred correctly on the 'B' side from now on, for all subsequent variations). The letters in the song title 'THIS BOY' are spaced quite wide apart.
LABEL VARIATION #5: ...for the 'A' side song title, 'I WANT TO HOLD YOUR" is on the top line, with 'HAND' separately on the next line beneath it...also on the 'A' side, to the left of the centre-hole, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in upright/NON-italic text. On the 'B' side, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in sloping text/italics. The letters in the song title 'THIS BOY' are spaced quite wide apart.

The letters in the song title 'THIS BOY' are spaced closely together.
LABEL VARIATION #7: ...for the 'A' side song title, 'I WANT TO HOLD YOUR" is on the top line (and the spacing is such that the length of that line is 54mm...whereas on all the above, it is 51mm.)...with 'HAND' separately on the next line beneath it...also, to the left of the centre-hole, the LEEDS MUSIC 'logo' is in upright/NON-italic text...on both sides. The letters in the song title 'THIS BOY' are spaced even wider apart...plus, the gap between 'THIS' and 'BOY' is set 15mm. apart, whereas on all the above, they're 11mm. apart.

LABEL VARIATION #12: ...for the 'A' side song title, 'I WANT TO HOLD' is on the top line, with 'YOUR HAND' separately on the next line beneath it....this was on the rare orange Parlophone label, issued in Feb. 1980...and, although stereo is NOT mentioned on the labels, both songs ARE in stereo.
LABEL VARIATION #13: ...this was on another different style of black and silver Parlophone label, issued in about 1986, with an entirely different style of label lay-out...song title and band name are in the same thick bold lettering, in a weak silver colour...and with the word 'STEREO' to the left of the centre-hole on each side...
