Description
For sale is The Akron Compilation, originally released around 1977-78 by Stiff Records featuring Akron, Ohio bands from the late seventies. This record was made in the U.K. and imported into the U.S. and features a unique scratch and stiff tire on the front cover that smells like burnt rubber. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers A-2/B-2, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this first edition. I bought this new, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The insert is Near Mint. The cover is graded as VG+ because of ring wear, edge rubs, corner blunts and stress cracks along the spine. The spine has some color loss and a little tear from these stress cracks. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent because of a few sleeve marks. I'm play-grading it VG+ because there is occasional surface noise, most noticeable during the quiet passages as well a three or four ticks at the beginning of side one during the introduction. This has been played on state-of-the-art equipment and has a lot of life left to it. This a very hard to find record and you would be hard pressed to find one on this side of the Atlantic. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have more Rock and Roll albums, as well as records of all different genres in my Ebay store. Please take a look, as they're almost all Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
