Description

The Adderley-Smith Blues Band - DEMO REEL to REEL 1967 east Broderick Smith etc.

Condition:

Very Good

Description:

Rare demo tape from a very young Broderick Smith, Joe Camilleri etc. Five tracks. Comes with some intriguing paperwork too.

This 5 inch tape is tested and it’s fine.

A Little background to the tapes presently listed:

These sound recordings are from the estate of Max Hull. He was the audio engineer for Festival Hall, a Melbourne venue, from the 1950s to the 1980s. He was also the recording engineer at East Recording Company (Elwood Audio Services Transcriptions), an independent studio and record label in suburban Melbourne that operated between the 1960s and the 1980s.

During his tenure at Festival Hall, Hull recorded many shows, including performances by Frank Sinatra (his personal favourite of which one of his recordings has been widely available for several years), The Beatles and concerts such as The Australian Boys Choir.

Hull recorded these shows not for posterity but to improve his craft. Some are full shows, some are partial, others are edited versions. Unfortunately many were recorded over, edited and some donated to museums. However, some recordings survived. I will list these over the coming weeks in small batches after reviewing them. This is a time-consuming but most enjoyable task.

These reels were generally recorded at 7 1/2 IPS. Any variations will be noted.
