Description

Original deep-groove "P" pressing of Thad Jones The Magnificent on the Lexington Avenue labels of Blue Note BLP 1527. The flat rim "RVG"-etched playing surface is mint and appears to have never been played. The labels are immaculate, as well. Similarly, the original Lexington Avenue "frame" cover is near-mint, with sharp corners, perfect seams, and a bright white flawless back slick whose only defect is a 1/8" crease along the right edge. This is as close to perfection in an early Blue Note 1500 series - particularly with a non-laminated cover - that could be hoped for. Personnel includes Billy Mitchell, Barry Harris, Percy Heath, and Max Roach.
