Description
This lot contains ten 10-inch 78 RPM records featuring various dance bands and popular singers, all, I believe, from the 1920's and 1930's.
All ten records showed up for the first picture, then they are shown in pairs or groups of three, both sides, in the following order:
Victor # 19840 - "Who" and "Sunny" by George Olsen and his Music.
Victor # 18536 - "Arabian Nights" by the Waldorf-Astoria Dance Orchestra; and "Sand Dunes" by Nicholas Orlando's Orchestra.
Banner # 33299 - "Ev'ry Day" and "Sweet Music" by Will Osborne and his Orchestra.
Banner # 32504 - "Same Old Moon" and "Why Little Boy Blue Was Blue" by Harold White and his Orchestra.
Velvet Tone # 2093-V - "Nobody's Using It Now" and "Blue, Turning Grey Over You" by Barney Trimble and his Oklahomans.
Cameo # 923 - "Somebody's Lonely" and "If I Knew I'd Find You" by the Davis Saxophone Octette.
Van Dyke # 71785 - "If I Had a Talking Picture of You" by Vincent Lopez and his Orchestra; and "Dreaming of You" by the Louisville Master Players.
Harmony # 445-H - "Charmaine" by Frank Farrell and his Greenwich Village Inn Orchestra; and "A Little Girl - A Little Boy - A Little Moon" by Lou Gold and his Orchestra.
Brunswick # 2024 - "Echoes" and "Just Like the Rose" by the All Star Trio.
Regal # 8149 - "Mary Lou" by the Woodmansten Inn Orchestra; and "Susie, Oh Susie, Why Won't You Marry Me" by Six Black Diamonds.
They are all in used and worn condition, some still nice and shiny, others not as shiny as they used to be, and all with visible surface scuffs and scratches and dull spots. If I had to rank them, the four most heavily played would be the George Olsen, the Will Osborne, the Van Dyke and the Regal. he only "unplayable" side was "Ev'ry Day" by Will Osborne - a deep needle gouge caused the needle to stick and repeat in the middle. The other 21 sides all played through without skipping or repeating on my Audio-Technica turntable, but with varying degrees of background noise, including some pops and clicks and some passages of ticking or swishing. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment. Please also check the pictures for any label damage or inscriptions or stickers.
