The message with the signature (Best Wishes Friend, From Weldon + The Teen Kings) seems to be before he lost them to Sun Records, probably from Weldon promoting the record when it first came out.
I sure do wish the band had signed it as well but nonetheless it’s a very special piece.

In 1955, local oilman Chester Oliver partnered with Weldon Rogers and financed Je-Wel Records named after Oliver's daughter Jeanne (Je) who played accordion in Rogers' band and Weldon (Wel).
According to Rogers, the basic purpose of the label was to record local acts that were dabbling in the Elvis Presley inspired rockabilly music. Their first signing was Roy Orbison and The Teen Kings. A session was booked at Norman Petty's Clovis studio and this (Je-Wel 101) was the result 'Trying To Get To You' / 'Ooby Dooby'.
The disc started to sell well and record shop owner Chester Hollifield called Sam Phillips and played it over the phone to him Memphis and Phillips signed them to Sun Records. When Sam was made aware of the fact that Orbison was underage when he signed the contract with Jewel, he jumped in and made out an alternative contract that Orbison's father co-signed. Phillips also got a court order to prevent Jewel selling any more of the disc.
