Description

RARE EARLY DENVER COLORADO COUNTRY WESTERN / ROCKABILLY / HILLBILLY LABEL - "BAND BOX RECORDS!"  I am offering a pair of these rare Denver, CO "Band Box" label lps BBLP 1008. Both covers are identical. One has the vinyl in G/VG condition, the other does not have an lp, just the cover. "Buster Jenkins Presents Rocky Mountain Jamboree." From radio station KLAK "The Country and Western Voice of The Rocky Mountain Empire."  Band Box was a small Denver label located at 5136 W. 41st Ave. This is a very obscure label that most collectors, even in Denver, have never heard of.  The back of the cover reads: "The Rocky Mountain Jamboree, now operating in its 3rd year (this would have been the 3rd year starting from the early to mid 50's), is the regular Saturday night presentation of radio station KLAK. The show is headlined by Buster Jenkins (The Old Gravy Sopper) who is a master showman, disk jockey, MC, and manager of the Jamboree, being held in highest esteem by all the entertainers as well as the listeners of KLAK. Buster Jenkins has won seven fiddling championships and is also master of the five string banjo and lead guitar. The top talent from the Rocky Mountain Empire gathers at 4th and Grant Streets in downtown Denver, Colorado, every Saturday night to pick and grin for 2 1/2 hours where capacity crowds attend. The Jamboree's first long play album is being presented to you now by some of the the top entertainers of the Rocky Mountain Jamboree." Titles included are Side 1:  Go Back To The One You Love by Charles Gordon, Dark Side of The Street by Edie Hammons, Black Mountain Rag by Kay Silvey, One Sided Love Affair by Johnny Chase, Cimmaron by The Flying Wranglers, The Old Country Church by Buster Jenkins.  Side 2: Down Memory Lane by Roy Green, A Stranger Came To Town by Max Allison, Raw Hide by Bill Stephens, For The First Time by Doris Fischer, What Will I Do Without You by Eddy Hammons and What Would you Give by Jim Moore.   One cover is split along most of the bottom seam and 2" along the top seam on the right. The second cover is split along the entire top and bottom seams. The one vinyl LP grades Good/Very Good. This is a very hard LP to find in ANY condition. Bidding starts at $49 with NO RESERVE. High bidder to pay $5 for pro packing and shipping.
