T-REX/BOLAN/PEEL/FINN/BOWIE/AUTOGRAPH 1969 PROGRAM COA
Rare 8-page illustrated programme of Tyrannosaurus Rex in concert with John Peel and friends at Manchester Free Trade Hall in 1969 with four authenticated autographs on the programme.
There are 4 signatures: 1. Marc Bolan photograph signed in blue ink; 2. Micky Finn (vocals & bongos) photograph signed in blue ball-point; 3. John Peel (compere) frontispiece signed with his observation “Peace” in blue-black ink; 4. June Child (1st wife of Marc Bolan) signed in blue-black ink on the frontispiece with message “Thank you for being so nice.”
The programme is in excellent condition with no creases, printed in black ink on white paper and containing ten Mark Bolan 1969 lyrics (Demon Queen; Magic Moon; Fist Heart Mighty Dawn Dart; The Wizard; Dragons Ear; Elemental Child; Great Horse; Wind Cheetah; Daye Laye & Pavilions Of Sun).
Sold with this programme is a signed and addressed letter of provenance dated November 2007 from the fan that obtained these autographs. He describes how he was invited into the dressing room, those present, and John Peel’s comments about the Australian sitar player, Vytas Serelis.
The concert line-up also included a young David Bowie, still only a top newcomer, performing a mime act. The letter of provenance comments on his performance. There is no Bowie autograph.
A superb set of highly sought-after signatures, in good condition with wonderful provenance and on photographs in an early concert programme which is collectable in its own right. Micky Finn had recently joined them and shortly after this concert the group took on the ‘sexier’ name T-Rex.
