TRACKS:Tracks 1969/74 (Tracks SBT 1/1974)


Highly unusual and extremely rare, count the number of known copies on your fingers with several left over, private press. This is one of the few instances of a band privately releasing not just an LP, but a 3 record box set.
The album is a retrospective of the band over its 6 year life. The early sounds are hard rock dominated by guitar-organ interplay, with the guitarist seemingly addicted to his wah wah pedal. The later material is keyboard dominated AOR with heavy progressive leanings. This style culminates in the requisite Tolkein titled 11 minute instro Isengard. Highlights are the lengthy covers of Street Fighting Man and All Along The Watchtower, both played in a heavy arena AOR pomp style.
The package is quite impressive for a private release. Each LP has different color labels (see photo). There is a 12 page booklet insert which includes lyrics, musician credits and plenty of photos. This is all housed in a black box with a wraparound paste-on cover slick in a similar style to Folkways releases.
The LP is featured in the book version of The Acid Archives, where it is given a fairly lengthy and modestly positive review, though it says this might have been a bit more cohesive as a single LP.
The box/cover is a strong VG+ (tiny tear & slight sticker stain in upper right corner; some creasing in front cover slick from a poor pasting job at time of manufacture; very small split in cover slick at spine of box). The booklet is in excellent condition. All record sides look and play Mint minus, though a couple of sides have one or two light sleeve scuffs that don't affect paly.

All LPs now cleaned on a VPI machine.
