Hard to find CLEAN  1967 STEREO Original first pressing by The Fifth Estate, led by ex-members of the D-MEN who were a cool garage-punk band in the mid 60's

                         XXX

In the mid-'60s, Wayne Wadhams performed in a band called the D-Men that evolved into the Fifth Estate. At the start, from Conneticut, they played many small shows and local clubs, but they soon gravitated to Greenwich Village and larger clubs where they often played six nights a week for long stretches. They played a garage form then called Beat music, which later evolved into a rock/pop form and group The Fifth Estate that played around the USA through the 60s at large theaters and at the coliseum level. Early on as The D-Men they released three singles with considerable success, two on Veep/United Artists and one on the Kapp labels, which along with much of their later material has become collectors' items and established them as a central part of the Garage Rock movement. As The Fifh Estate they went Top 15 in 1967 with their teen raves tune "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead!." Their only album on Jubilee Records is very misleading. This group should be as sought after as Moulty & the Barbarians. This album really goes across the '60s spectrum, which makes it so fun and so unique. Melodic garage melodies across the board reflect a stle that could as well stand up in the same cult fascination for Roky Erickson and/or the Chocolate Watchband, it is compelling what album reveals, and even more amazing that this music isn't as sought after as so many other bands from that era. A novelty hit, after all, hardly has the lustre of a Standells riff or ? & the Mysterians' organ passages. As stated, this is a real period piece for collectors of vintage sixties music.
