Toots and the Maytals weren't as well known as Bob Marley and The Wailers, but they were just as important and influential. In fact, The Maytals were the first to use the term reggae in a song, FIFTY FIVE years ago, in 1968! ("Do The Reggay" was the first song to use that word, which the spelling eventually changed. But the meaning did not!) Maytals leader Frederick "Toots" Hibbert passed away in 2020, but his incredible legacy of music, several decades long, lives on forever! (RIP Toots. I was both lucky and blessed to see you perform several times in my life, where you made those musicals festivals so much fun!)
