TOOL - “Ænima” Gatefold 2xLP (BMG / Zoo Entertainment - 1996) Cat# 72445-11087-1 
Up for auction is an ultra-rare and OOP original vinyl copy of “Ænima” by Tool.  Again, this is an original copy from 1996, not one of those crappy colored vinyl bootlegs (mastered from a cd) floating around here on eBay and the Net (that people are spending stupid money for-btw). I purchased this second-hand from a local record store sometime last year. Since it’s purchase the LP has been played twice and stored upright in a protective sleeve. 
This is far from a pristine copy. Whoever owned this copy before me is a jackass because they have no idea how to care for a vinyl record. 
The gatefold sleeve is G-  The jacket suffers from significant shelf wear (crushed corners, ring wear, sticker residue, a one & a half inch seam split on one of the edges of the sleeve, and a large crease on the inner part of the gatefold sleeve). The most serious issue are tears on the upper left corner of the back of the jacket (see photo). This copy does include both inner sleeves. They both have similar wear (ring wear, seam splits) however, they are in remarkable shape considering the condition of the jacket.

Vinyl is VG  I played this copy twice (once through headphones). Both records have minor scuffs and small scratches causing surface noise throughout play. This is mainly evident during softer passages and during a songs intro and fade. Nothing that severely affects play. Aside from a few pops here and there, the surface noise does not overpower the music (personally, I think it enhances it - Plus, it’s a vinyl record man! part of the experience.). Note: Track A4 ends in a locked runout groove. The sound it contains, also continues on the run-in groove of side B.


Even with all it’s flaws, it’s still a great piece of vinyl goodness!

You ask: Why is he selling this? My answer: I hate to let this go, however my vinyl collection is going to take a minor hit to help with the expenses of being “new” parents (diapers, etc...). Hopefully someday Tool will give this record the proper reissue it deserves and it will once again be in my collection.
