ARGUABLY THE greatest early seventies hard rock band right up there with Leafhound as one of the most sought after artefacts of a brilliant era. It doesn't get much heavier than this - the guitar work is stunning with crushing bass and drum support and production values to die for. When I first heard this album I couldn't believe that Toad weren't hailed as the natural successors to Cream and Zeppelin, I will never know.
A three piece power trio led by the erudite Vic Vergat on guitar, the band originated from Switzerland but originally came to the UK in order to record with Deep Purple producer Martin Birch (Black Sabbath man Rodger Bain is also credited!). They then retreated back to Europe and set about recording this, their second album. The music is consistently fresh, loud and exceedingly potent with ear splitting riffs and the best sound you could ever wish for on an early seventies record; crisp, clean and all the instruments benefit from incredible separation.
The music is top notch heavy blues rock with lashings of incredible over the top guitar work from Vergat. The other great thing is that all the tracks are really long allowing the band to stretch out and head off on some amazing instrumental jamming.
I can't recommend this album enough - truly one of the most amazing records you'll ever likely hear.

Vinyl: Mostly looks great, clean and shiny but there is a flaw. No spindle marks but there are some visible cosmetic scuffs (NOT affecting playback) and one feelible needle scratch on side one opening track 'Thoughts' - the needle does not jump and the music is so loud and in your face that you can't really hear any clicks. Grades as a nice Ex but 1st track downgraded to Vg+.
Cover: Only minor signs of any us. Issued in a beautifully designed gatefold laminated cover. As you know this cover is mostly found with the lamination lifted or totally torn off but thsi one is fully intact. Sharp corners (lightly rubbed), no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Displays a little storage wear. Grades as Ex
