CONDITION
Vinyl: EX+
Heavy 60's vinyl retains all it's original deep full gloss and lustre...the vinyl surfaces are near mint in appearance, with no immediate visible marks, close inspection under a strong bright light shows a few of ultra feint, barely visible wispy light paper marks/hairlines, these do not affect the playback at all. All tracks play and sound excellent with just the smallest amount of very occasional, very light background static, this really is extremely minor and is behind the music and is in no way serious. This rare album has been very well looked after (by myself) and has only had very limited play since I bought this new, unbelievably now nearly 40 years ago! This is a great original copy that plays superby throughout and will not disappoint in any way.
Labels: Mint-
Clean and unmarked, with full clear label silver and black print, two very feint spindle traces, no writing, no stickers!
Sleeve: Excellent-
The open out edge has a 4cms scuff/scuffing...please see picture no.7...besides this the beautiful psychedelic fully laminated sleeve is in excellent plus condition with original SBL price code box top back right corner
NOTES
***SUPERB ORIGINAL COPY - ONE OF THE RAREST ON FONTANA - ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL UK ACID/FOLK/PSYCH - THE BEST***
Absolutely fantastic but widely unknown Acid Folk/Psych LP with connections to Amory Kane (who co-wrote some of the songs). An all-time-fave of mine! Great songs, a fantastic voice, partly with acoustic guitar only, partly with drums, organ, flute and delicate electric guitar leads. If you´re into stuff like Jackson C. Frank, Tim Buckley, Amory Kane, Trees, Marc Brierley and similar, try this one, you´ll love it!
Tim Hollier was an unknown and obscure singer-songwriter from England, who made three highly aclaimed and collectable folk-psych albums. This is his second, the best and the rarest one. Loaded with beautiful songs and fabulous psychedelia that was only ever truly made back in that era. The music is great singer/songwriter acid-folk with psychedelic and some progressive touches. Unlike his other albums, this one is almost completely without orchestral arrangements, and is about half-and-half acoustic first takes of songs, and songs with electric group backing. A truly amazing album which is a real gem, packed with brilliant acid/folk tracks, written and played by an artist at the peak of his powers. Pressed in relatively small numbers and poorly distributed, this LP is now incredibly hard to find in any condition and these days is seen as a true masterpiece of the late 60's acid-folk/psych era.
Wonderful fragile acid-folk/psych album, brilliant sound, all magnificent original tracks....original 1970 UK Fontana Records 1st pressing in fabulous condition. This is the 2nd Tim Hollier LP following on from his excellent 1968 United Artists debut 'Message To A Harlequin' (please see my other listings for this one). The arrangements are less orchestrated than his '68 debut, Message To A Harlequin, and the mood decidedly darker, but in many ways it's the superior effort, in a similar downer/loner vein to Mick Softley, Bill Fay and early Al Stewart. For many collectors, including myself, this is possibly the BEST and most MAGICAL UK acid/folk/psych LP EVER!! Stunning electric folk-psych with acid guitar, tablas, mystical flute and the truly haunting vocals of Tim Hollier. Most songs have full band backing, similar to early Tim Buckley and the first 'Pearls Before Swine' LP...but better! The record kicks off with the stunning 'Seagull's Song', one of the finest UK acid-folk tracks ever recorded...the whole album is full of timeless songs, in fact there is not one poor track on this magnificent LP. Absolutely impossible to find these days, hardly sold anything at the time and deleted from the Fontana catalogue almost immediately, shamefully received no promotion at all! A copy in a similar condition to this one has recently sold on ebay for close to £400....I really believe this record will keep going higher in value as more and more collectors realise the genuine rarity and true brilliance of this marvellous original UK Fontana label LP.
THIS IS THE RAREST LP BY THE LEGENDARY UK 60'S SINGER/SONGWRITER TIM HOLLIER....A TRULY GREAT FOLK/PYSCH LP AND EXTREMELY SOUGHT AFTER....THIS IS AN ORIGINAL 1970 1ST PRESSING ON THE BLACK/SILVER UK FONTANA LABEL CAT NO 6309 003. THE SLEEVE IS LAMINATED FRONT AND BACK AND EXCEPT FOR A 4CMS SCUFF ON THE OPEN OUT EDGE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
RECORD IS VISUALLY IN NEAR MINT CONDITION....THE VINYL STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL DARK GLOSSY SHEEN....PLAYS SUPERBLY THROUGHOUT WITH LOVELY CLEAR SOUND.
THIS RARE LP DOES NOT COME UP FOR SALE VERY OFTEN! THIS IS A REALLY SUPERB COPY...DON'T MISS IT!
Possibly the FINEST UK acid-folk psych LP EVER!!
