Description

Thundermug

" Orbit "

Axe Records  AXS.504, 1973 original issue/pressing Canada

Thundermug were a 4-piece band out of the London/Kitchener area who recorded three excellent long plays in the early seventies (none of which have ever been "legally" re-issued on CD).

"Orbit", their hard-to-find 2nd LP, is essentially an eclectic hard-rocking psych rock gem with lots of power-trio muscle that sometimes unexpectedly switches to softer melodic acoustic riffs (much like Led Zeppelin pioneered), yet with great inventive vocal interplay and awesome guitar breaks everywhere.

With Joe De Angelis (lead vocals, guitar),  Bill Durst (lead guitar),  Ed Pranksus (drums) and James Corbett (bass).

Listen to (or download) the hard rocking "Bad Boy"  HERE

This was the 4th LP released on Greg Hambleton's very collectable "Axe"  label (who also produced the album).

Labels...NM       Vinyl (tiny pressing flaw on track, otherwise NM)

Original issue die-cut unipak (flip-top) novelty Cover (light shelfwear, coh)...EX

Grading:

  Record:

NM to NM-

Record looks almost un-played, shiny, glossy, with no obvious marks, except perhaps a couple of very light  superficial paper scuffs/hairlines.

EX to EX-

Excellent record…..Glossy surface, minimal hairlines,   perhaps some noticeable superficial scuff marks, possibly some light surface noises.

VG++ to VG+

May have more minor hairline marks and\or surface scuffs that will not affect play (no skips...but possibly some minor crackling on playback).

VG

Record may have several light scratches, noticeable marks, and surface noise may be more apparent. …It will still play through without skipping and is still enjoyable.

VG-

Looks rough, many scratches, some deep enough to be fell with a fingernail, surface noise is evident . …An OK record, but not for everyone. (* will not normally be auctioned, unless a desirable or rare item)

   Cover:

NM to NM-

Only very minor shelf wear with perhaps a minor flaw….an overall excellent collectible cover (a cover that was very well stored)

EX to EX-

May have some minor front or back cover wear, minor seam and spine defects (well cared for, but it does show minimal signs of use (light ring, edge or seam wear...perhaps a small split on seam).

VG++ to VG+

Noticeable blemishes that are not severe…corner, spine & seam wear…..noticeable ring wear.  May have a small seam or spine split, or sticker residue/damage  May have some small taped section(s).

VG

Shows distinct wear from handling & storage, more noticeable marks and/or discoloration ….. may have more seam splits, spine tears or sticker tears, and/or taped section(s)

VG-

coh

Very evident wear/damage, but cover is still intact. ….Ring wear may be quite heavy, may have larger splits, tears or taped seams.  (An OK cover, but not for everyone)
