Throbbing Gristle's The Third Mind Movements, now commercially available via Mute, captures the band's experimental and live flair for the dramatic. Formed in 1975, Throbbing Gristle, comprising Chris Carter, Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson, Cosey Fanni Tutti, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, revolutionized music and culture with their extreme, subversive approach. Initially released exclusively during their final American tour in 2009, this album was recorded during the Desertshore sessions at the ICA, London. It features six live recordings, blending manipulated, time-stretched samples, rhythmical breakbeats, and hypnotic electronic oscillations. The attentive audience adds a palpable energy to the performances. The Third Mind Movements is a vital addition for fans as the band's unique ability to create unsettling, immersive soundscapes is on full display. This release reaffirms Throbbing Gristle's lasting impact on industrial music and their unparalleled legacy in pushing the boundaries of sound and culture.
