THIS IS MERSEYBEAT Vol. One
Extremely rare 1963 ORIOLE UK MONO LP PS40047 featuring
Faron's Flamingos, Earl Preston and the TT's, Sonny Webb and the Cascades, The Mersey Beats, Derry Wilkie and the Pressmen, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, Ian and the Zodiacs, The Del Renas, Mark Peters and the Silhouettes
this is an incredibly rare record. Generally speaking, compilation records have little appeal and rarely enter the realm of collectability, but this particular album features tracks at the heart of the Mersey Beat explosion led by the Beatles. Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, in fact, were Ringo Starr's pre-Beatles band, but never made an album, like most of the other bands on this record. In fact, Derry Wilkie and the Pressmen, to my knowledge, made no 45s either, so you can see that these recordings are pretty rare! Do not underestimate the rarity nor the importance of these recordings and what they signify in the development of British pop and beat music!
Vinyl in VERY GOOD++ Condition
Sleeve in VERY GOOD+ Condition
The vinyl displays minor wear only, and despite very light surface wear, it has been well cared for. Absolutely no playing faults whatsoever and the record is still a nice-looking example with just general wear and a couple of mega-fine surface marks. The labels are in EXCELLENT+ condition and display minimal spindle wear and no damage or writing. The sleeve is also very respectable. The laminated front is in great shape with only a few short wrinkles around the edges. No significant edge wear, no splits, no tears. No writing to rear, which is still very clean. Very respectable.
