This is an auction for a very rare LP by The Zombies- Odessey And Oracle.

This was released by CBS records in 1968 and has catalogue number- S BPG 63280 and Matrix numbers- S BPG 63280 A2- S BPG63280 B2.

Condition: The sleeve comes in fine condition. A touch of discolour can be seen in places on the rear, mostly along the top edge. There is light buffing to the very corners and top of spine edge and lastly a few small lamination creases seen under close examination. Edges ex, Spine text fine, no tears, bends or creases, lamination at mouth fine, complete and graded at VG+.

This comes with its original CBS patent inner sleeve which has a pen / pencil mark to the top right corner and a few light discolour marks, no edge splits or tears.

Both labels are immaculate and look new, under very close examination I can see perhaps two or three tiny spindle trails on label one and two or three on label two. The centre hole shows no signs of wear. Judging by the amount of spindle marks this looks as though it has been played a few times only.

Vinyl: Appearance: both sides retain there new shine, Side 1: Under a strong light 4 tiny feather scratches can be seen and one very faint scuff mark on track 3. There are also a couple of finger marks that will clean.

Side 2: Again only seen under a very strong light a few feather scratches can be seen, otherwise like side one it looks near new.

I have play tested this record through both sides and have taken the following notes. Firstly when placed on my deck I did notice a very subtle warp. Side 1 starts with some crackles / pops this fades but a consistant feckle can then be heard every rotation through to some way in track 3. I have examined this record and can only put this down to the very subtle warp as there are no scratches or scuff marks present. This feckling fades as the record progresses and is obviously heard clearly at the records quietest moments. Once it has faded out the rest of this side plays fine with the odd very quiet crackle/pop. The music itself plays amazingly well, Because this has been hardly played there is very little, if any, lessening in actual sound quality with the music playing strong through out this side, with no fading, distortion or dragging heard whatsoever. The music can be heard clearly at all times well above any feckling. This side can only be graded at VG despite being hardly played.

Side 2, This side starts with a few crackles / pops that completely clear after the first few rotations of this side. This side then goes onto play very well indeed. A few quiet crackles can be heard going from the very end of track 1 into track 2 after which, other than one or two crackles/pops aside, this side plays as new, quiet breaks and entries. Once again like side 1 the music itself plays with very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. No fading, distortion or dragging heard whatsoever and can be heard clearly above the odd very quiet feckle on this side. There is no lessening in sound quality on either side through wear. This side is graded at VG+, simply down-graded for the first few seconds of this side, otherwise its certainly near mint.

This record could do with a clean, it looks fine but under a strong light some dust and finger marks can be seen. Once cleaned up it may lift some of the feckling heard but I am more inclined to think this is being caused by the very subtle warp albeit on one side only.

This record is graded at VG and is a worthy addition to any collection.
