Description
This is an extremely rare local pressing 45 by The Why Four called "Not Fade Away" b/w "Hard Life" on Rampro Records R-118 from 1966. This is a band from Michigan/Wisconsin from the mid sixties with Gerry Cain as lead singer and guitarist. I was working at a record store in Marinette, WI in 1996 when this record came through. I was very surprised to see it, and purchased it for myself. I would not have known anything about it if it hadn't been that my cousin was friends with the band back when they were performing and giving these out or selling them at their concerts, and he owned a copy. This one is in considerably nicer shape than the one he owned. He had given me his copy also so for several years I owned two copies. I sold the first one about a year and a half ago. On this one, the vinyl and the labels look nice. It plays nice VG+ to VG++. That could be the pressing itself. It may be that it never sounded any better, and just wasn't recorded that well as a lot of garage recordings from the time sound less than perfect. Regardless it is a nice copy of a very rare record.
